Brainstorming

After being grouped, our topic given was sustainable packaging. Within this sector, we decided to focus on sustainable gummy bear packaging, as it aimed to solve an overlooked product's sustainablity issue. We wanted to make seaweed based plastic for its many benefits, especially its sufficient amount and rapid growth.

Creating the Company

When creating our company we wanted to have a lasting name that resonated with our audience of young children, as an interest in gummy bears revolves a young audience. We decided to name our company "Chew & Co." as it was clean and simple to us. We created multiple potential design ideas as well as plans to pitch the idea, with budgeting plans made to be cheap and cost effective, including fully Canadian sourcing and production.

Creating the Prototype

This was the part where we put most of our efforts. We wanted an extremely appealing design for our audience and to show our ambitions with this company: To not only be sustainable but to be functionable and marketable. We chose mixed colours to not go fully in with green, as it creates an image of healthy/vegetable eating, something that may push children away.

Creating the Pitch

We traveled to the University of Waterloo to pitch our products to undergraduate students and experts in the field. We were required to excel in order to display our company's excellence. We kept our design language as a standard throughout our slideshow and used simple terms to help the audience visualize a more sustainable future.
